I went to a BBQ on Saturday and looked around at the couples there – almost a quarter had met online. My own brother met his wife in cyberspace and they now have two beautiful children. It is the future and particularly so in financially-strapped times when you might not have the money to spend going out week after week hoping to meet someone to share your life with.

It’s far better to find them from the comfort of your own home but you’re also using a more targeted approach that should ensure compatibility. We recently streamlined our search engine so that you can better match the person you’re looking for in terms of appearance but most importantly likes, dislike and pastimes. It’s so important to find someone with similar passions and common interests.
Physical attraction is often the first connection you have with another person and of course if you are a curvier lady or guy who’s keen on the fuller figure, you couldn’t have picked a better place to begin your search than www.largerdate.co.uk

It’s surprising how many people are scared to take that first step into the world of internet dating but I’m yet to meet anyone who isn’t glad they tried it. In fact, most contact us to say they wish they’d come online sooner!! So if you’re checking out the site and still a bit nervous then give it a go. You could be just a few clicks away from finding happiness.

Crazy News!

Some news is so crazy that it’s not worth repeating. A recent study by some professors at an Italian university fits into just that category but is so galling it needs airing. It claims that using plus-size models will have a detrimental effect on women’s health in the long term. Loosely translated, promoting images of bigger women will encourage us all to get fat.

What a load of rubbish! For starters, plus-size models are usually sized 14-18 and fall well within the average size of women in the UK so how can that be a bad thing. We at www.largerdate.co.uk think the fashion industry need to go even further should be using larger plus-size models.

Surely having a fashion industry built around models as tiny as size 0-4 is far worse for women’s body image. Few women so small in stature are healthy but once again, it’s easier to attack the larger and lovely ladies out there. Being plus sized doesn’t necessarily mean you’re unhealthy and as you can see from the ladies on www.largerdate.co.uk, they are a gorgeous bunch of girls!

Demand for plus-size clothing is soaring at such a rate that one in four of all women’s fashions sold this year will be a size 18 and over.

According to retail analyst Verdict, the market for larger sizes is the fastest growing on the high street and it predicts sales will increase six percent this year to £4.9 billion (R53.9bn) at a time when most other sectors are experiencing a downturn.

Sales are set to climb to £6bn by 2015, representing a rise of 28% over five years. Good news for all you LargerDate members who want to look your best while dating.

Successful pop artists such as Adele and Beth Ditto have become icons for a new generation of large teens and young women. And leading catwalk designers and high street chains are trying to tap into the reality of modern women’s larger shapes with collections for bigger sizes.

We at LargerDate have long realised what an important section of the population you lovely ladies are. Happy dating and you’ve no excuse not to look ravishing while you’re out meeting the man of your dreams!!!

Bigger girls are now louder and prouder than ever before and happy to shout if from the roof tops! 2011 is undoubtedly the year of the curvy girl. A year in which we’ve already seen a number of designers, from the catwalk to the high street, clamouring to meet the demands of a discerning and growing (quite literally!!) consumer market, from lingerie and swimwear to office wear and hot cocktail dresses.

At last it seems retailers have been hit by the realisation that plus size women have just as much money to spend as their skinny counterparts. A market that for so long has had limited outlets to satisfy its hunger to shop just like everyone else, now boasts as much variety and scope as is available for skinnier shoppers.

Last week Curvissa.co.uk launched, Yours Clothing announced it is to sell via Amazon and Wal-Mart, US supermarket giant and owner of Asda, pledged to dedicate more retail space to plus-size clothing. It looks like the revolution may have finally begun……………………….

Largerdate.co.uk is going from strength to strength as more and more plus size people and their admirers realise there is no better place to meet online. It is proof that not all men want to date skinny women, as the media would still have us believe. Ladies, your ample curves are appreciated by more people than ever before and we salute you!

It’s taken a while but plus size women are finally getting the recognition they deserve as beautiful, successful, confident creatures to be desired and admired. A quarter of women in the UK are now a size 18 or bigger, which comes as no surprise given that Largerdate.co.uk’s membership is growing 10% every month.

We know you’re all having a lot of fun meeting new people and dating and we’d love to hear more about what you think of the site. You can either comment here or e-mail: support@largerdate.co.uk

There are a few things to bear in mind and in no time at all you’ll be waving goodbye to LargerDate and saying hello to a whole new life.

1. Use a current photo

Get a friend to take a good, clear photo of you that reflects how you look today. There’s no point using a photo from five years ago just because you’re substantially slimmer. Remember at LargerDate big really is beautiful so there’s no sow people who you really are. This is your future so paint an accurate picture of who you are.

2. Give a detailed description of yourself

No matter how tempted you are, don’t write ‘I will fill this in later’. You need to show people who you really are. A stunning photo is not enough of an attention grabber.

3. Be honest about your life but don’t give everything away

Honesty is important but it’s not necessary to divulge every bit of information about yourself. Save that for when you meet someone you really like. The fun is in getting to know someone.

4. Be clear about the kind of relationship you want.

Are you looking for friendship, fun or lasting love? No one wants to have their time wasted.
